RESENTMENT:

(Job 5:2 KJV) "For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one."

WHAT IS RESENTMENT? WHAT DOES IT DO? It destroys! Look at the NIV version - (Job 5:2) "Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple."

Resentment = frustration; wrath; vexation

Who does it? -- hypocrites (Job 36:13 NIV) "The godless in heart harbor resentment; even when he fetters them, they do not cry for help."

Resentment = wrath; anger with fierce look in the face

Why? Because they lack love in their heart at the time. (Proverbs 15:12 NIV) "A mocker resents correction; he will not consult the wise."

Resentment = stays away; does not love; refuses affection. Doesn't want any help!

It develops family resentments. (Proverbs 11:29 TLB) "The fool who provokes his family to anger and resentment will finally have nothing worthwhile left. He shall be the servant of a wiser man."

Resentment = trouble; afflicts to the point of stirring up the water, mud or stink!

(Ephesians 6:4 TLB) "And now a word to you parents. Don't keep on scolding and nagging your children, making them angry and resentful. Rather, bring them up with the loving discipline the Lord himself approves, with suggestions and godly advice."

Resentment = wrath; enraged

THERE IS A RESENTMENT TO THE LORD!

Because of His discipline - (Proverbs 3:11 NIV) "My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke."

Resentment = detest; be weary; go out grieved even to the place that you sever yourself from others like "a wasted summer for a farmer when it comes time for harvest and there is nothing to harvest."

When you give less than your all - (2 Chronicles 25:2 TLB) "He did what was right, but sometimes resented it!"

Resentment = not loyal in your heart; not with a perfect heart; not wholeheartedly - giving less than your all. [ORIGINAL=without peace, not whole]

Sometimes resentment builds in Praise and Worship - (1 Timothy 2:8 TLB) "So I want men everywhere to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from sin and anger and resentment."

Resentment = with doubts and disputes; i.e. external dispute because of false imaginations

As a servant of the Lord we can hold on to the wrong things -(2 Timothy 2:24 NIV) "And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful."

Resentful = patient; must endure ill will and put up with suffering through injury, evil, harm, and wickedness

IT IS THROUGH JESUS THAT OUR RESENTMENTS ARE ENDED!

Because of His death - (Ephesians 2:15 TLB) "By his death he ended the angry resentment between us, caused by the Jewish laws that favored the Jews and excluded the Gentiles, for he died to annul that whole system of Jewish laws. Then he took the two groups that had been opposed to each other and made them parts of himself; thus he fused us together to become one new person, and at last there was peace."

Resentment = hostility; opposition; hatred

Without Christ we will be full of it - (Titus 3:3 TLB) "Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient; we were misled by others and became slaves to many evil pleasures and wicked desires. Our lives were full of resentment and envy. We hated others and they hated us."

Resentment = malice; wickedness of the flesh

God doesn't resent us - (James 1:5 TLB) "If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask him, and he will gladly tell you, for he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask him; he will not resent it."

Resentment = reproach, upbraideth not, without fault finding

WITH ALL THAT IS HAPPENING, THERE IS A TREMENDOUS BLESSING TO THOSE WHO WALK FREE OF RESENTMENTS. DON'T HOLD ON TO ANYTHING THAT KEEPS YOU IN A STATE OF RESENTMENT!!
