That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...Psalm 26:7 Vol.6, No.2 February 1997 Dear Family of God: Everything we see, everything we say, everything we do, God knows. Now it is obvious to all, things are worse. Not just because we don't get away with what we used to, but because the effects of sin are easily seen, felt and noticed. Not having faith and belief in the Lord to live after His direction is disaster waiting to happen. But thanks be to God, we don't have to dwell on disaster. I must daily keep myself built up in Christ. I must daily choose to keep myself together in the protection of His Living Word and the power of His Spirit. It takes a clean heart, a pure conscience and a truthful spirit (Psalm 24:4). WHAT DID I JUST SAY? A truthful spirit - Where did that come from? My heart is clean. I repent! My conscience is pure (I think)! But who can know the truth in their spirit? Too much deception! Too much evil! Who can make it? You see, we try to live every day with what we see and hear and are a part of. But if we don't know truth from error, we will be right where those who have no hope are living. When disaster comes, we'll quit. We might even curse God like Job's wife wanted Job to do. I cry out for truth because I see so much error in "so called godly people." They don't live in truth and then they wonder why it is so hard to get to God or to hear God in difficult times. Half-truths become a part of us because of a faulty conscience. I must keep myself in Christ at all times: (1 John 5:21 KJV) "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen." Acts 15:29 adds, "And you will do well." Every decision that takes precedence over the Spirit is because of idolatry, usually because of some hidden lie in our hearts. I simply must stay above all this that is coming forth and (Jude 1:21 KJV) "Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." I must remember His mercy to keep me in all holiness and truth. It will keep me built up in the Lord. In Christ,
