They Went Into the Sea On Dry Ground
Exodus 14:19-31 Remember the story of Moses and the Israelites passing through the Red Sea. We have a story of God's faithfulness to His people. After years of bondage and slavery, God freed them. Not only did He free them, He did so using miracle after miracle. The plagues were miraculous in themselves; but the fact that the Israelites were not affected by these plagues was also miraculous. God tested over and over the leaders, the controllers of Egypt. They finally gave in and let God's people go. But, this wasn't the end. The Israelites were stopped by a sea. They could not cross over. They had the sea before them and the Pharaoh's army behind them. God intervened. He stood between the enemy and the Israelites. Moses stretched forth his arm as God parted the sea and dried it out. The Israelites crossed over miraculously on dry ground. Then the enemy's army came after them, and as Moses lifted his arm, God closed the passage. The waters fell upon the Egyptians, drowning them, destroying them. Most of us have been delivered from areas of slavery in our life. When we receive our deliverance, we tend to believe that our deliverance is all we need. We then find that the enemy follows us in our freedom to take us back, thinking that we will get weary and need to fall back on the familiar. Through our obedience, God will protect us. He will prepare a way of escape for us. He will lead us on dry ground to what He has promised us. He will destroy our enemies. He will, if we are obedient. Look at the Israelites as God's Army. Look at the Egyptians as Satan's Army. Today we are God's army. We all have a place and a purpose. God has called some of us to part the waters. God has called some of us to walk on dry ground. What is our position? God has called his people to a war against sin. When the enemy is found out, he will attack. He will follow us with sin, tempting us to fall. But God has called us to walk on dry ground. Do not look back, as did Lot's wife to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Look ahead to what God has called you to. Do not desire the past as did some Israelites later on, blaming Moses for taking them into the desert. God desires obedience. He has not called us to destruction, but to victory. We must visualize our position and authority in these days. Time is going fast. With God, but a few seconds remain. There is still a lot to do. We can not waste time disputing, disobeying, sinning, and carrying on about the past. God has prepared a way. It's a way on dry ground. Disputing and disobeying just takes time; and if we take too much time, either the enemy will grab us or the sea is going to come down and consume us. We must stay focused. Let not our conversation slow us down. Let's not waste time talking about things that concern the past. Let's look on. See before us the land God has promised. God will lead us through the desert only if we need it. If we didn't leave our pride back in Egypt, then we will have to bury it in the desert. Otherwise, we can go on to what God has called us. Let's choose the latter. Let's move in victory and authority in the mighty Name of Jesus. - CHAD ROSS
