Questions on the Test

Study Material: Salvation is a walk. By faith we were born again, but by grace we continue to be saved. Sometimes we fall as we walk, but we have to get back up. Grace gets us up. Fear might try to keep us down, but we must trust Christ. Not always is our path straight and narrow because there are consequences to our sin. We keep pressing on because we cannot turn back. We do not want to go through something again that we just came out of.

Question #1: The walk of salvation is hard enough with our own temptations and trials without other people adding some more. Why is it that some that are "saved" stick their foot out for us to trip over? Why is it that in this walk we have with one another, some might push us down so they can get by? If we are all saved in the church, if we are all born again, why don’t we all help each other and encourage each other?

Answer: Everyone in the church is not saved. Mat 7:15-20 KJV says "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. {16} Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? {17} Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. {18} A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. {19} Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. {20} Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

Question #2: Will everyone that says they are saved go to heaven? Is it fair that those who try so hard to walk out their salvation go to the same heaven that those who could care less expect to go? Why should people try, if those who do not are going to go to heaven anyway? There are some in the church that cling to the cross. They cast down their flesh every day. They raise up the new man in Jesus Christ. There are those that try to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh. Are these people going to go to the same heaven as those who take the Cross for granted? Will they go to the same place for all of eternity as those that neglect the law but live by "love"?

Answer: Everyone that says they are saved will not go to heaven. Mat 7:21-23 KJV says "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. {22} Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? {23} And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Grade: Judgement day will be a sad day. There will be many that thought they could just get by, their sluggishness unnoticed. The question is not about works; the question is about life. We all have virtually the same amount of time on this earth. How are we living? This is the testing time. Time is what God created to measure our test. Time is the grading scale. Some may finish the test before others, but did they do their best? What about those who copy? Will these go to heaven off of someone else’s life? No, they will not. Jesus bases His evaluation on creativity, endurance, honesty, and motive.

We must pass the test. If we are cheating, we better start being honest. There is not much time left. We cannot take for granted the Cross. Knowing the answer is not as important as living the answer. The answer is Jesus Christ. We should be like Him.
