“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 10, No. 4 April 2001

Dear Family of God:

This time of the year most people think about the cross and what Christ did for them. But it is time to take up that cross and follow like never before. The church has been through every cycle imaginable. She goes around and around. Why? Because she just doesn’t get it. The Lord is moving on with His plans and purposes, but so many won’t move with Him. They just keep going around and around. During this dry period of waiting on God, they stop praying and seeking His face. Every day is a challenge and without His guidance we are overcome.

Another reason people just go around and around facing the same defeats everyday is that they do not believe in being delivered from their sin. They do not consciously confess and renounce it specifically with enough determination to be set free. If you have confessed it and renounced a sin, and it does not immediately go, do not become discouraged. You are in a battle. We are on the brink of the greatest battle of the ages. It is spiritual. It is dangerous. We won’t be able to stop it. So, we must get prepared and remain ready at all times to give an answer for our hope that lies in the cross of Christ.

There is nothing more pitiful than hopelessness, yet many are in that state today because the Lord is doing an internal work that baffles the mind of even the great leaders of our time. Psalm 42:5 (KJV) “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”

Hope, Hope, Hope – get it and don’t lose it. Keep praising and seeking. They go hand in glove. He has not nor will He forsake us. We are in a battle, but we must maintain an attitude of praise and confidence in Christ. And before you know it, the power of defeat is broken. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.

We simply must learn how to war effectively to be made worthy warriors of God. Revelation 21:7 (KJV) “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”

Oh yes, oh yes, “all things” shall be ours. The cross is not a pretty sight. But when resurrection power manifests, all things become beautiful in time. I believe the time is upon us. The church is being beautified and she shall be glorified. We are being made a new creation right this moment. Think about that. Meditate on God and be refreshed. Think about the cross and rejoice. What a great God we serve.

In Christ,

Pr. Steve
