“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 10, No. 1 January 2001

Dear Family of God:

I used to be so pessimistic, but now I am finding life in Christ; and depending on the way I see life, there is much victory or defeat. Many who once used to be optimistic are now becoming cynical. What has happened? People who just proclaim the Lord don’t have the life of Christ to sustain their trials and tribulations. All that is within us is now exposed. We have a choice – to let the ugliness of our lives destroy us or to find the beauty from the ashes. This is good news. I don’t like to be a downer. I don’t want to go around thinking life is a drag. I don’t want to live based on the way things are going on around me.

We must come to the place that Jesus is truly Lord of all or not Lord at all. There is no such thing as a part-time Christian. There is no place in the Kingdom of God for the half-hearted who only call out to God when things are so bad they can’t go on. No, Christianity is a life of righteous living through the good, the bad, and the ugly. And in it is victory and living.

The more we understand about life, the greater the opportunities to live and enjoy all of it.

Growing up in Pentecost, I experienced doom and gloom continually. Now I understand that doom and gloom are only part of the picture. The other part is grace and glory. I am glad I experienced the other side, but the closer I become to Christ Jesus, the more grace and glory that come forth.

So how about you? Which way are you headed? Are you on your way down, or can you see the light of day? We are now at the dawning of the New Day, new era, new generation. I say, let’s get on with it anyway. Don’t stay oppressed and beaten down thinking life is unfair and too hard. Instead, get in the Spirit of God and begin to rise up. Yes, I know it takes some people longer than others to get up in the morning. But don’t miss the beginning of this dawn. It will be spectacular. The light is going to shine on the people, the chosen people of God and it’ll be grand and glorious.

In Christ,

Pr. Steve
