“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7

Vol. 11, No. 8 August 2002

Dear Family of God:

I was really having a hard time writing this letter at this time.  I have been experiencing so much weariness that I just couldn’t do any more.  I have been physically worn.  Recently pulling my finger out of joint (it is still swollen after 6 weeks); tearing a tendon in my foot (crutches, soft cast, the works) -  it is much better—and then to top it off a summer cold (which I have never had before).  Then there have been so many people afflicted that my prayers have been constant cries for relief.  Oh yes, I am trusting the Lord, waiting on Him, pressing on, because I believe the Word of the Lord, “They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.”

It doesn’t matter that I am beginning to age.  I still have much energy left within me and I don’t want it to go to waste.  After I busted my foot, I literally had to slow down to a snail’s pace. [I really don’t know how people survive going this slowly.]  I have taken some time to see all that is happening around me (not a pretty sight).  I have tried to reflect on what God has done (that’s encouraging).  But I still have this level of energy that needs to be used because I don’t want to lose it.  I must stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  But that has been a tremendous battle.  When you are bone dry (old cliché) and totally weary, there is really nothing at all you can do EXCEPT…

WAIT ON THE LORD!!!  Either His Word is true or it is not.  He is Lord and He rules my life.  He will not leave my soul in hell, nor will He forsake me when I need Him the most.  I will still declare His righteousness, no matter what,  I WILL WAIT ON THE LORD.  And He will not fail me.  That word “fail” is “raňphaňh”  in the Hebrew and it means “to leave you weak or weakened.”  The Lord God will never leave you this way.  Why?  Because we are being made into His image.  What is His image?  Isaiah 40:28-29 (KJV) Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.  I believe and receive the Word of the Lord.  I will have His strength.  It will increase more and more in my new nature.  Verse 30 tells us even the young, strong, athletic, macho men will utterly fall:  BUT THEY THAT WAIT ON THE LORD SHALL FLY LIKE EAGLES.  From Glory to  Glory to Glory.

 In Christ,

 Pr. Steve

P.S.  I am strengthened just by writing this letter.
