God of the New (Isaiah 42:9 KJV) “Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.” Jesus is alive and reigning upon His throne! He never sleeps, neither does He get tired. Daily He is working in and through His people. Life is not hum-drum or boring when we realize that we are ambassadors reigning with Christ and that the purposes we have in Him constantly lead us to newness of life. (Jeremiah 31:31-33 KJV) “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” He has written His words upon our hearts, and continues to write. He is not done with us; as a matter of a fact, He has just started. There are things the Lord is still revealing to His people, individually as well as corporately. If that were not true, there would be no reason to talk to Him. There would be no way to follow Him. Don’t get tricked into giving up your time that is devoted to ready the Bible and talking to God. There is no legalism in wanting to spend time with your Creator, Savior, Redeemer, and God. (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV) “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Things constantly become different for those who take time to make Christ an active part of their lives. A caution: there are many natural and spiritual warning signs that will spring up if we allow our interest to be drawn away to the matters of the world and the old life. If we are sensing spiritual lethargy, or weaknesses, we must determine to arise and put on the new life that has been made readily available to us. (Romans 13:11-14 KJV) “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Wake up! Snap out of it! The day is at hand. The scripture says to put on the armor of light, and to put on the Lord Jesus Christ. The original Greek meaning for ‘put on” means to place upon your foot, like putting on a sandal. The choice is ours. We cannot continue to make excuses; it is time to arise to the call of Christ. (Ezekiel 18:30-32 KJV) “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye. The way has been made to go forward into the new, by the blood of the Lamb and repentance. God said He would cause all the old things to pass away, and that is just what He is doing. He is faithful and that gives us hope. It is a privilege to have an active participation by our own free will in this process by faith. We must embrace His move and wait upon the Lord as He brings us into the new. (Lamentations 3:21-26 KJV) “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.” -Kurt Thurston June Newsletter 2002 | Our Inheritance | Ministry Minded part 2 of 2 Pastor's Journal - June 2001 | God of the New | Signs and Tokens part 3 of 3 | Refiner's Fire |
