20/20 Faith Jer 29:11 (KJV) “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” We are a people deprived of purpose in many ways. The following scripture is one that gives promise to those who lack identity in the body of Christ. Many believers spend the majority of their life waiting for Heaven to become their home, yet they have nothing to act as a compass in this life giving them direction for today. If they do anything with their life, many times it is acting out their will and applying their faith to what they see fit and calling it God. John 5:30 (KJV) “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” Jesus is expressing His relationship with the Father. He seeks not His own will, but that of the Father who has sent Him. By restricting God’s goodness until we reach heaven, the enemy reduces us to a sense of nothingness in the present. Yet God says He knows the plans He has for us. Isa 55:8 (KJV) “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,…” That is a humbling scripture. We have to know that we do not think as God thinks. Applying that principle to Jeremiah 29:11, could that be why we do not comprehend the plan of God for today, or even for our life? We do not truly know the mind of the Lord. It is from the mind of God we get a glimpse of our greatness in Him. Prov. 29:18 (KJV) “Where there is no vision, the people perish…” The vision in our life comes from knowing the thoughts of God. Psa 127:1 (KJV) “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it…” We obviously do not build something that we do not have a vision concerning. The idea is to manifest what you have vision for. We know when we have connected with the mind of God because our labour is not in vain. We are not manifesting something God has not conceived. Jer. 29:12 & 13 “Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Here is the rest of Jeremiah. After coming into the mind or thoughts of God we see His people calling out upon Him. We see His people seeking Him. You know, we sometimes take condemnation because our “prayer life” is not what it aught to be. Could it be that before we can cry out to God we need to know His mind? A direct result of knowing His mind is our being released to call out upon Him. As we conclude, let us remember that God has great things for us in this hour. For some it will be foreign to think that God is calling them to good things in the world. If you and I can get hold of His mind, hope will be birthed in us. If we receive the mind of the Lord, we will have hope given to us. Heb 11:1 (KJV) “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Let it be said, God’s mind has the ability to impart hope, hence, activating faith we so often neglect. - John Frost October Newsletter 2003 | Cleansing Ourselves | Things | 20/20 Faith Pastor's Journal October 2002 | Thankfulness part 2 of 2 | A People Plundered part 1 of 3
