That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving... Psalm 26:7 Vol. 12, No. 2 February 2003 Dear Family of God: Normally, Pastor Steve would be writing this letter. But today, I find myself filling in. On Friday, January 10, 2003, Pastor Steve had a horrible accident. Pastor Kurt and I were helping to finish a remodeling project in the prayer chapel here at the church. At approximately 4:30 pm, Pastor’s sweater was caught on a commercial grade table saw and his arm was pulled in cutting deep into his left wrist. I applied pressure to the wound while Pastor Kurt called for the paramedics. The saw had cut out bone and all eight tendons to the tops of his fingers. Pastor was taken to the local hospital where he received emergency surgery by a doctor who had been a trauma specialist at the University of Cincinnati. It was not his night on call, but he was the only one in town that could perform the surgery and he was gracious to sacrifice for our pastor. The surgery lasted two hours. After recovery, Pastor was taken to his room for overnight stay at 1 am. Now we wait. Pastor is resting. It will take a lot of time and therapy for him to regain his range of motion. The surgeon said, “He will never have normal range of motion.” But we are praying and believing that God will do a miracle. We pray that full range of motion will be restored to Pastor’s wrist, hand, and fingers and that he will not need reconstructive surgery in six to eight weeks. It is not impossible with God! I ask you to please keep our pastor, my father, in prayer. By the time you read this, it will have only been three weeks since the accident. Our family has been through a lot this past year, but I want to personally say that God has been glorified in every circumstance. He has done miracles in our family before; he will do it again. God is teaching us all mercy, patience, love, kindness, and humility. He must, for he is answering our prayers: to be what he has called us to be. In Christ,
