Get It Together - part 2 Within this newsletter, just as in part one, the emphasis is still upon the heart of Jesus as shared in Luke 13:34, where His expresses desire is to take Jerusalem under His wing, and how she utterly resists His every effort and rebels against His reign. When we interpret Jerusalem as being a typology of the Church today, we can gain a broader perspective of what is causing her to be weak and dysfunctional. Isa. 55:8-9 (KJV) “For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Though His thoughts are higher, the Lord never leaves us void of understanding what His will is. God is constantly establishing structure and order in our lives according to His word, because God is the God of order. Everything that God does is perfect and is done with order. We see perfect order in God’s design for constructing the tabernacle of the old Testament, with all of its departments and furnishings, and all of the ceremonial practices that took place there. We also see the will of God set in order in the laws and the prophets. If we look closely we can see the progressive changes in the modern day church, as she is being molded into the entity that is to reign with Christ. 1 Pet. 2:5-6 (KJV) “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.” Christ is the foundation stone upon which we build, but how do we build? We must be living sacrifices unto the Lord. That entails using our gifts and talents for the glory of God. Being living stones that make up the structure means to be living, moving, working, and ministering Christians. As Christians we must learn to develop a Christ-centered mindset. That mindset says that Jesus Christ is alive, and that He is using His church to establish His Kingdom here on the earth. 1 Cor. 14:40 (KJV) “Let all things be done decently and in order.” Order is the most vital element used in accomplishing any given purpose. Christians who think they don’t need to go to church are out of order. Christians who negate their importance in the church are also out of order. The word that is used for bringing the parts of the body of Christ together is “organization.” “Organization is the act of forming or arranging the parts of a compound or complex body in a suitable manner for use or service; as well as the act of distributing into suitable divisions and appointing the proper officers, as an army or a government” (Noah Webster). Christians need to find out how God would use them in His body. Then, they come into the body of Christ under God-given authority so that everyone can see the order and beauty of what God is doing in the earth. That can only happen when we are willing to get it together. -Kurt Thurston May Newsletter 2003 | Am I Ready to Rule with Christ? | Get It Together part 2 | Present Day Fathers part 2 Pastor's Journal May 2002 | Progress of Maturity part 2 of 2 | Pillars and Posts part 2 of 3 |
