Lawless Theology Some modern day Christians have developed a lawless theology. Some assume that, because we are no longer under the law of sin and death, we can now cast off the law. As always we must simply keep the word of God in its proper context. For instance, we no longer make animal sacrifices for the covering of our sins, because the blood of Jesus Christ was shed to redeem us from sins. But, on the other hand, we know that the law of sowing and reaping has not been abolished. Another example: If you believe the first part of Proverbs 29, verse 18, you would do well to believe the end of the verse because it is just as true. (Pro 29:18 KJV) “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Many people, though they are not fully steeped in the lawless theology, have still been greatly affected by it. That is evident by the way we treat the things of God, at the church, as well as elsewhere. We must keep in mind that the casting off of restraints always gives room to an anything goes attitude, and that is not the character of Christ in us. (Lev 19:30 NIV) “Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the LORD.” For life in general, as a people, and as a nation, we still need to walk in the precepts, the desires, and the very nature of the Lord our God. The Holy Spirit will lead us in His ways, for God is not one who can lie, and He still does not wink at evil. Remember that Jesus, when led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit, quoted the Old Testament commandments of God when He said; “It is written; thou shalt, and thou shalt not.” He did that to overcome the temptations of Satan, and so we must know the authority of the eternal word if we are to overcome darkness in these end times. We shall overcome by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of our testimonies, that is if we have testimonies. And we shall have testimonies if we shall obey the voice of the Lord our God, not loving our lives even if it means death. God does not wish to bring destruction upon us, but rather is trying to deliver us from falling into the vexing curses that truly still do exist when we walk contrary to the law of His Spirit. (Deut 28:15-19 KJV) “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.” This same chapter reads on to describe various forms in which these curses come: Such as: pestilence, consumption, fever, inflammation, extreme burning, the sword, with blasting, mildew; a closed heaven, unproductive earth, dust for rain, loss of battles, fear and uprooting, a prey for every fowl thing, smitten with botch, hemorrhoids, scabs, the un-healable itch, madness, and blindness, heart attacks, being oppressed and spoiled with no hope for help, made slaves and swept away to serve another nation with other gods, made to be the tail and not the head. As a nation, and as a people, we must keep the word of the Lord, or sin will creep in with its destructive effects. Always remember these New Testament Words of Jesus Christ: (Matthew 5:17-19 KJV) “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” -Kurt Thurston February Newsletter 2003 | Face Like Flint | From Bride to Mother Pastor's Journal February 2002 | Lawless Theology | Precious Seed part 2 of 3
