Present Day Fathers - part 1

Mal 4:5-6 (KJV) “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:  And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

What a day that we are in: a day that Jesus Christ is establishing Himself as the cornerstone of His church.  Through it we are headed for an encounter with Father God. We have to be, or else God’s word will return to Him void.

Rom 8:19 (KJV) “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”

If the above scripture is true, than we must acknowledge that it takes a father to produce a son. The sons that will come forth will know the Father intimately.  Some might question that level of belief and question how such a thing could happen. Let us keep in mind that in these days we are walking in the message of repentance that will be stirred up within the confines of Christ’s church, leading us to the Father’s heart. It is through repentance that we will find a place before the Lord and turn from our way of thinking, resulting in His will and not ours. What we do willfully is a result of how we think. Our thinking is manipulated by the deepest parts of our heart.

What does this have to do with Malachi when he speaks of the hearts of the fathers turning to the children and the hearts of the children turning to their fathers? Let’s look at more scripture that should be familiar.

John 1:1-3 (KJV) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God .All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

This scripture shows a unity between the Word or Jesus and God, speaking of the Father. We must come to the place that we see our spiritual fathers and spiritual sons coming into greater unity. Unity is established through relationship. However, Paul makes a statement that can be heartbreaking.

1 Cor 4:15 (KJV) “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.”

The word “instructors” means boy teachers. How many people do we have that can teach you about worship, but can’t minister to you about discipline? Or how many people can teach you principles to make more money, but can’t minister to you, breaking off of you depression. The term boy refers to a lack of maturity for whoever is teaching. Take note that a teacher can touch your thinking, but a spiritual father can touch your heart; ministering to it and changing it. A father can touch every area of your life.

Men and women can do great things with their lives; but if they don’t have sons or daughters, then their investment of their life carries a certain level of vanity because it will hit a brick wall. The fruit produced in one generation needs a son or daughter to fall on or else that fruit won’t reproduce in others’ lives. It isn’t saying that people won’t eat their fruit, but to eat is different than to have the seed in the fruit penetrate the earth and bring forth another tree.

Gen 1:1- 5 (KJV) “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. If fathers and sons come together in this hour we will see a different church. Fathers will carry great vision. They will begin to articulate the vision and the sons will go forth.”

Yes! The spiritual fathers in this hour will be filled with vision for the earth.  For the fathers, having the vision won’t be enough.  They will speak forth the vision. The sons will go forth and bring into the earth what the father’s have spoken. We as His church will model the heart of God for creation by manifesting true relationship as He intended between Himself and mankind.
