Thank God for Time

We all have the same amount of time per day to do all that we determine is important.  One thing is certain in America; all that we do, we do according to our own free will.  We chose how, and when, and where we will spend our 24 hours a day.  If we are wise we will set aside some of this time to partake of the things that are eternal.

(Eph 5:15-20 KJV)  “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord [is]. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;…”

Is it hard for you to get up and out of the bed in the mornings? Have you ever really wondered why?  Nothing should dampen the thought of being blessed with another 24 hours of life to spend, unless of course we have been spending it in the wrong way.  Consider this: “Time is more valuable than money.”  You can live without money, but you cannot live without time.  Even people who don’t live for Jesus Christ have come to realize how important it is to make wise decisions in how they spend their time.  Consider the instruction given in this quote by Lord Chesterfield: “Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness, no laziness, no procrastination: never put off till to-morrow what you can do to-day.”  Better than that, consider the instruction, the wisdom and the life that is contained in this quote by our Lord Jesus Christ:

(Mat 6:31-33 KJV)  “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

We spend so much time on idle nonsense, when all the while we could be enjoying the new life that we have been granted permission to partake of, now that we have been grafted into the Kingdom of God.  We must individually make an assessment of how we spend our time, so that we can be sure we are using it wisely.  Here are some prime examples of how to spend some of our time wisely:

(Col 4:2 KJV)  “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;”

(Mat 26:41 KJV)  “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.”

The gist of the matter is purposefully spending quality time with God.  There is no quota to fill, but the more time we spend seeking God, and communing with Him, the more we will know Him and love Him.  If we think that we are thankful to Him for what He has done, we will abound even more with thanks for Who He is.
