Choose To Be Chosen Many Christians have been given so much during their walk of faith, but have reached a trial, or a junction in their walk, where they wonder if they can continue on. That is not an uncommon predicament, but when the very foundation of Christianity is tested in the lives of believers we must choose to be chosen. Mat 24:24-25 (KJV) “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect. {25} Behold, I have told you before.” We are living in the last of the last days and God knows the level of difficulties that we must endure to strengthen us so that we do not follow after lying signs and wonders. As the chosen, or (elect), we will encounter various kinds, as well as diverse levels, of spiritual exercises that can only be overcome by walking out the Word of God that is in us. Jam 1:2-4 (KJV) “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; {3} Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience. {4} But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” We must count it all joy, and think it not a strange thing when the very fiber of our being is tested and the only thing left in us is the desperation to find the Word from God, and the Will of God. Heb 11:1 (KJV) “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Allowing doubts about who we are in Christ, as well as allowing doubts about who Christ is in us, will cause us to fall short of the mark of our high callings in Christ. In this hour we must understand that the greatest rewards will require the greatest perseverance to achieve. Remember this: God is not to be blamed or even questioned about our difficulties. Our battles are not with God; our battles are not even with flesh and blood, but rather with the enemies of God. Those enemies know that their suffering will increase as we reach the heights of our spiritual walks; so it is the resistance from the dark side that we must learn how to overcome even on this natural battleground. Eph 6:12 (KJV) “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].” Battles against wickedness and principalities must not be attempted using the wisdom of men, nor by implementing cunning devices. These victories can only be won by, and according to, the Word of God. His Word proclaims that we Christians are the chosen and called, the very elect. It is high time that we cast off the darkness and the doubt, and choose to be chosen, and walk according to faith in His Word. -Kurt Thurston June Newsletter 2004 | Righteous Living Today | Maturing the Home - A Message for Fathers Pastor's Journal - June 2003 | Choose to be Chosen | Partakers: With Whom and of What? part 3 of 3 |
