Holding Truth in Humility John 16:13 (KJV) “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.” It is wonderful what we have been given in the Holy Spirit. God has blessed us a great deal to see us changed into the image and stature of Christ. This life is a journey that finds generations handing the baton to the next generation, and building from one generation to the next. We have seen the danger of people taking a partial aspect of truth they have been led into and making a doctrine on it alone. Thus, we have seen the making of denominations. In our present hour are seeing those things drying up before our eyes. This is an era in the church where anyone who is willing to listen to God and follow His lead, are being led into revolutionary truth. God is making Himself known to those who are willing to wait upon him. In this understanding, we find that we must be careful how we hold onto what truth we are being lead into. 1 Cor 3:18( KJV) Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. It certainly has proven to be true that a bit of knowledge will puff a person up. The interesting thing in Christ is that much of what knowledge or truth God brings us into we are actually changed into as well. The alarming thing is that we must remain in humility as God brings truth and adds to our stature. Otherwise, as the scripture above indicates, we will run the risk of deceiving ourselves. Can you imagine being brought into great understanding of truth and still being brought to deception because your heart moves in pride instead of humility? Maybe that explains this next verse even better. Mark 13:21- 22 (KJV) And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. That becomes a sobering scripture. However, in the context of God’s word we must guard our hearts, even as we walk in the understanding of the Spirit of the Lord. The days ahead of us are great. God is not done with His people and He will continue to be faithful to us, bringing us into greater dimensions of Himself. How blessed we are to be in Christ and how marvelous that He has shined the light of His glorious gospel in our hearts. As His light continues to shine may we carry our God in humility whether in fellowship with one another, or revealing Him to the world we are in. - John Frost February Newsletter 2004 | Forgiveness | Test of Perseverance part 2 of 2 | Pastor's Journal February 2003 Holding Truth in Humility | Keep Moving Forward | Be Not Fruitless or Barren Part 2 of 3 |
