Intercessors Invitation Mark 6:5- 6 (KJV) And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching. The focus is not really about that particular story. Of course, it is interesting that Jesus did marvel at the unbelief. Is that really so different from our day? There are so many ministers, be they clergy or lay ministers who stand in awe of the unbelief and the Godless society we keep. No one seems to respond to the Word of God as in time past. “What is wrong with people today?” is a question asked by many who have seen betters days in the church. That speaks of the days when people would run to the altars wanting to be right before the Lord. A day when the name of “Jesus” was not a taboo, as in today’s society. Surely, there has always been a resistance to God’s word, but our present hour is a huge landmark in time for our nation. You have people running from God. You have people running passionately after God. You have some people who do not know if they are running from or to God. The funny thing is, all that commotion is in the church. The commotion outside the church is far greater than that. So, what do we do? What is being done? It is no secret; God has spoken to us about intercession. This will be the year for us to intercede on behalf of the church and surrounding area. The goal of the church in time past consisted of getting people “saved." That is a starting place, by the Spirit of the Lord, but there is so much more to Jesus Christ and what He has given for His people for us to aim so low. We are on the brink of the spectacular presence of God invading us, not our four walls, but instead, I believe our very cities. Our intercession will go forth on behalf of others besides the church. God is setting us up to minister to the unbelief of our nation through intercession. It is a beautiful day before us. It will cause us to move out of the selfishness of our needs and bear the burdens of those who do not know the Lord, who do not know His ways. Strongholds that keep territories bound will see God come in, in mercy through the interceding saints that carry the heart of the Father. It is salvation that belongs to the Lord, and He has a heart for all of His creation. God enjoys restoration. The individual who condemns our nation and gives it over to judgment is selfish. It is obvious sin is on every side. God may allow us to discern the sin, but we must pray for mercy. Hab 3:2 (KJV) O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. -John Frost January Newsletter 2004 | To Be Humbled part 1 | Stop, Look, and Listen | Test of Perseverance part 1 of 2 Pastor's Journal January 2003 | Intercessors Invitation | Be Not Fruitless or Barren part 1 of 3 |
