It Is Finished

Psa. 37:3-5  “Trust in the LORD, and do good; [so] shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  (4)  Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  (5)  Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.”

Trust in the Lord…”

baw-takh' be confident, sure,  like a careless woman in the arms of her lover.

Don’t get down, don’t let circumstances get to you. Put your confidence in the Lord.

“and do good…”

aw-saw'tobe  -

This is what Jesus said while He was on the cross, “Aw-saw”  He didn’t say, “It is finished,” as we have interpreted.  He said, just like God said in Genesis 1, “It is done, I have fashioned it like I said I would, It is finished and it is good.”  So put your trust in the Lord and do good. Go as far as you can go and put your trust in the Lord in the meantime.  “So shall you dwell in the land.”  Dwell – take your place where God wants you, not where you want to be, but where God wants you to be. “In the land.”  Where you belong, where you can grow and be planted and produce “god-kind-of-fruit.”

Delight = aw-nag'  to be pliable in the arms of God, like a wife yields to her husband.  “My heart is yours.”

If you are trusting in the Lord and giving Him what He wants, then you can have “delight” with Him.  To take the cross of Jesus is to take delight in the Lord.

It is difficult for people to just let go and allow another to rule over them.  As men and women our society has taught us to take care of ourselves, because no one else will.  We don’t know the freedom of the Lord because we don’t delight aw-nag' in the Lord – yield to Him.

Do we have the desire of our hearts or do we have the cravings of the flesh?  Here is the difference.  If we are delighting in the Lord Jehovah, then He will impregnate us with His life and virtue and with desires, hopes, ambitions that will please our lover.  We will not be thinking about ourselves, but what He wants. He will put the things in you that He wants to see through you and for you and by you in the earth.  God will impregnate you with life abundant beyond your limited capacity to even comprehend what you think or ask.

“Commit your way.”  This is the word for Golgotha – to roll yourself over on God, like Jesus did when he went up that path to death.  He was not fearful – he was looking forward to the great blessing that mankind would receive.  Now the Lord is saying the same thing – “Commit your way. Look forward to the blessings that follow.”  The cross is the greatest avenue for your life to be full and complete and satisfying and rewarding.

When Jesus walked up Golgotha’s hill He wasn’t thinking “this cross is too heavy to carry, I have been beaten up, I’m bloody, I’m going to die, it’s too much.”  He looked forward to the time when “It is finished. It is good.  Life will come forth, fruit will be produced, I will be with My Father, My Father can be with them.”

Heb. 12:2 “But for the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame and is set at the right hand of the Father…”

“I commit my way, the Father’s method, back to Him and He will bring it to pass.”   And He becomes the power, the one to accomplish it.  Whatever His plans, His desires, I commit my way to Him and He brings it to pass.  I don’t make it happen.  He brings it to pass.   PASS = aw-saw' It is finished.

It all begins at the cross and it is finished at the cross. Everything else is life.  And as long as the cross is the center of my life, I can live life to the fullest.

Trust in the Lord and do good.  “It is finished.”  God said it and all is taken care of because I am in the everlasting arms of the Lord.  My heart and life are His.  Life is difficult, so I yield completely to Him.  I roll myself over to Him by bearing my cross.  He will bring me through every circumstance into resurrection glory.

It is finished, the anointing on my life will carry me through to salvation and holiness.  I am my Lord’s and He is mine!
