Wholeness – part 2 of 3

1.       Whole means to strengthen (endurance)

Matt. 6:25 through Matt. 6:34 (KJV) 25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

We are not whole because we toil instead of resting. Adam had two purposes when he was created. One was because God wanted fellowship; the other was to take care of everything God created.

That second purpose is still ours today, but many in the body of Christ in their self-righteousness only take on the first purpose. People say that labor was part of the curse and now all curses are broken. They say that the New Testament speaks of the rest of God and believe that to be the absence of labor. They feel that eternity will just be resting in the love of God.

The truth is that “toil” is the curse, not work. The fact is that caring for all God created is hard work, but that does not say that we do not have to work. The rest of God is laboring for the work without the “toil.”

2. Whole means to deliver, save, protect (body, soul, spirit)

Matt. 9:18 through Matt. 9:22 (KJV) 18While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 19And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples. 20And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

The spirit, soul and body have life. The spirit needs food from the Father, the soul needs food from others, and the body needs food from us.

Any part of us can die. We have seen people with dead spirits (the world), dead souls (in the church), and dead bodies (the funeral). People with dead souls cry out to God for confidence, assurance, acceptance, and appreciation because they do not receive it in Christ.

1 Thess. 5:23 (KJV) 23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We must allow God to heal the soulish man. This is why Christians sin. They are not preserved blameless because of  soulish desires and needs.
