Christian Fellowship “That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving...” Psalm 26:7 Vol. 19, No. 1 January 2010 Peter was a normal human being like most of us. He did not like to suffer or go through a tough situation. Don’t most of us want things to go well with our life? Don’t we strive daily to make life better for ourselves? But there is something different about this day we are in. We are learning how to suffer and endure tough times. As pressures continue to come upon us, we inch our way through, hoping things will get better. But God keeps warning us that they won’t. They will only get better in Christ. Peter rebuked Jesus for talking about suffering. He did not want His Lord to go through difficult times, so he thought he was doing the Lord a favor. I think sometimes we are that way with each other. When someone goes through something bad, we just want that person to think positively so he can get out of his dark mood. But discipleship doesn’t work that way. Jesus turned to Peter and chastised him: Mat 16:23 (HCSB) “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me because you're not thinking about God's concerns, but man's." You see, if we are serving the Lord with all our hearts and seeking Him continually, we are going to suffer. Why? Because it is for God’s benefit. Let us get our thinking on the ways of God and off man’s ways. I don’t think man knows what to do anyway. At least if we do things God’s way, we won’t mess them up; and the victory will be ours. Happy New Year!
