Currently there is no guaranteed protection against viruses, adware, spyware and spam. The suggestions and downloads below are free and are offered to help combat intruders against your personal computer.

  1. Everyone needs an antivirus program. Download AVG Antivirus or Avast Antivirus.
  2. Everyone needs an anti-spam program. Download SpamBayes.
  3. Everyone needs an adware and spyware cleaning program. Download Lavasoft Ad-aware.
  4. Parents concerned about what their children may accidentally view online need parental protection software. Download Parental Filter.
  5. If you use any type of broadband connection and do not have a router with firewall capabilities, you need a firewall program. Download ZoneAlarm.
  6. There is software available for purchase that records activity from internet browsers, chat rooms, email, newsgroups, etc. Visit Cyber Patrol or NetNanny for purchase.
  7. It is also important to use tools already available to you. If you use internet email accounts, your provider should have options set to block junk mail. Also, if you own your own domain, your server software should have options set to block junk mail. Be sure these settings are set to the highest levels.
  8. Never give your email address or other personal contact information to unsecured or untrusted websites.
  9. The most important suggestion is to use internet integrity. Don't give in to curiosity. Some things are better left alone.

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Eph. 5:27 (KJV)
