Tithes & Offerings
Study guide by Rev. S. Chad Ross & Rev. Kurt Thurston

tithes and offeringsGiving is still a major issue with many believers today. The economy cannot maintain its ongoing climb. Many are fearful about the future but we are instructed by Jesus: (Luke 6:38 KJV) "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." In the context of scripture (vrs.27-37) Jesus is speaking about an attitude we must maintain towards all other people, then He finishes this with the statement about giving.

Attitude is everything when it comes to giving!

You can have all the faith in God that it is possible for a human being to have, but if you do not have the principle of giving included with your faith, you will never inherit the many blessings that God has laid up for you. The kind that are pressed down shaken together, and running over. The scriptures speak about God’s people prospering in everything they do. [ EX: 3 John 2; Proverbs 10:22; Genesis 24:40; Deuteronomy 29:9; Psalm 35:27; I Kings 22:15; 2 Chronicles 20:20] Prosperity is part of serving the Lord. But you can’t prosper if you spend everything on yourself. You must have seeds to sow; you must have something to invest. (Proverbs 11:24-25)

Malachi 3:10-11 is the guidelines for giving. God invites you to prove His Word. If you will follow the pattern of giving from the Word, you cannot disprove God’s promise – you will only prove it more and more. If you stand on the Word and become generous in your soul, and obey God by bringing in all the tithe into the storehouse, you will be blessed and prosper.

When you give the tithe to the Lord you are adding power to your faith that God does what He says. The tithe opens the windows of heaven for blessings to flow.

(3 John 1:2 KJV) "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
