Loving Worship As the return of Jesus Christ draws nearer, the Holy Spirit is preparing the bride for her bridegroom. The church that will worship the Lord "in spirit and in truth" will be that bride. This preparation can be likened to the training of a "bride to be" in the Old testament. A "bride to be" would voluntarily subject herself to be changed in every way. No detail was too small. She was taught how to dress, how to act, even how she should smell, so that she may be pleasing to her husband. This process will also be seen in us as we learn to worship God in spirit and in truth. Jesus told the woman at the well: (John 4:22-23) "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him." From that time until now, the Spirit of the Lord has been looking for people that will subject themselves to His change and His power; for people that will allow His anointing to change and guide their worship. In these last days, as the gross darkness increases, the church that wants to stay in the light has to worship by the leading of the Spirit. I believe that is why we have seen such a drastic change in the styles of worship. In the early 1980's, companies like Hosanna Music ushered in one of the biggest changes to traditional styles of worship by putting the Holy Scriptures into songs that were directed more to God than about Him. A new and deeper intimacy with the Lord was experienced by those who by the leading of the Spirit broke tradition for a new depth in relationship. It seemed that the church had just grown accustomed to this music when at the change of the decade, another new style of praise and worship was birthed. This music was, and still is, the heart cry of God for His people in worship. Today, God is still releasing songs and new music to His body. God has always given worship songs to His people. He gave Moses a victory song at the parting of the Red Sea. The same was true with David in the cave of Adullam. Music that is divinely imparted is full of the creator's power because it is the Rhema word of God. As we approach the new millennium, the intensity of worship is greater than we have ever experienced. There is a power being released to and through those who will worship God, no matter what they are suffering in this present life. As the marriage of the Lamb is closer than ever before, and the fire of revival is burning throughout the earth, our worship will start to reflect the passionate heart of an anxious bride being made ready to be with her husband.
